Anne Kraft

A native of St. Augustine and a graduate of Ketterlinus High School, Anne went to New York City at the age of 19 after 2 years at FSU as a music major. She worked in every off-Broadway show that came along, did some commercials and appeared in some soap operas! After a short stint in Hollywood, CA and 30 plus years after leaving St. Augustine, she landed back in her hometown and is proud to have started the Limelight Theatre with Jean Rahner in 1992. After retiring from the Limelight in 2006, Anne once again worked with Jean in A Classic Theatre.

Anne’s local acting roles include Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks, Blanche in Streetcar Named Desire, Joan Didion’s one-woman play, The Year of Magical Thinking which she also performed in Melbourne, FL; Palm Coast, Atlantic Beach and Salem, Mass.. She has appeared in a number of productions at City Repertory Theatre in Palm Coast, where this past January she made her Shakespeare debut as Lady Capulet in “Romeo and Juliet.” Her recent directing credits include The Owl and the Pussycat for First Coast Opera. And she’s currently directing two video projects for ACT’s online StaHome Theater.

She’s proud to say that she has celebrated her 81st birthday, is a ballroom dancer and loves competing in amateur competitions. Her “day job” is with a local law firm which Anne says, “keeps her gounded.”

Anne’s awards include Theatre Jacksonville’s Best Actress (Blanche in Streetcar Named Desire), was one of the first ROWITA Award recipients in 2008, and the Folio Winner of Best Actress in 2019 and 2020. She is also the mother of one daughter, grandmother of 3 and is happy to visit them in New Hampshire… when her schedule permits.
